Various Projects

Have sooooo many things in the works right now! Finished another baby afghan in cotton worsted, a purple drawstring bag in nylon that turned out really pretty but didn't photograph well, got about 9+" into a rainbow cotton beret when I realized I just couldn't live with its imprecise beginning, so I'll take it apart and do it over. Am nearly finished with a wild jacket that I designed and will post pix when it's done. Was gifted with some lovely hand-dyed yarn from a very dear friend. More about that in my next blog entry. Life has just been so very busy these days!

Oops!

Oops! In my Summer Update below, I forgot to include pix of the baby afghan I just completed, done in 100% cotton worsted weight yarn, presented in a wooden/wicker basket/wagon. The wheels roll really smoothly!

Summer Update

Been crocheting up a storm this Spring/Summer! Thought I'd better hurry up and get some pix posted! I'm sure I've missed a few projects along the way, but these are the photos I found. Have lots more new projects in the works, but that's for another day.
This is my favorite, because I designed it myself. :) I had 5 wee balls of SWTC Amerah 100% raw silk and wanted to do some sort of openwork to make this small amount of yarn go a long way.
I found a stitch I liked called Twist and Turn in Jean Leinhauser/Rita Weiss' 365 Crochet Stitches a Year, and made an openwork variation of the stitch variation pictured in the book and took it from there to finishing with a reverse single crochet edging. The yarn has a lot of body and worked really well with this stitch.

Back view of a jacket I made from a pattern. This one's 100% bamboo tape yarn. It's so soft and light, this yarn, but doesn't really have enough body for this design. I might take it apart and use it on something better suited to its soft drapey-ness. Then again, I haven't tried blocking it.

Below are various completed items...washcloths, back scrubbers, potholders, hotpads, and a few other things.

Still need to do top curtain

Fun Fur Jacket

Had some difficulty in posting a link to this pic for Crochet Partners, so thought I'd post it here. This is a jacket I made from Fun Fur using the Lion Brand free pattern for Matinee Swing Jacket and double thread held throughout.

Peaches 'n Creme Order Arrived!

Well it was Christmas in March Wednesday! I had ordered 2 cones of yarn for a vest pattern I want to make, and 2 "grab bags". I'm very pleased with what I received:

At 2.19 each, I think there's quite a bit of yarn in these 2 grab bags! I ordered from the former Elmore Pisgah site and didn't have to wait very long to receive my package. To check out their deal, just go to http://www.peaches-creme.com/

Online Waist-Shaping Calculator

This little goodie works for both knitting and crochet, and calculates shaping FOR you, whether you're working a garment from top down or bottom up! It bases increasing/decreasing on the measurements you input, as well as the stitch gauge for the hook and yarn you want to use. I haven't used it yet, but wanted to put it here where it would be handy, and to share it with you.

Waist Shaping by Knitting Daily

I found this tool through Crochet Partners, a wonderful, extremely active Yahoo group, and have found a wealth of other resources through them as well, including yarn and pattern sources. If you like working with cotton, whether worsted weight or thread, check this out: http://www.peaches-creme.com/ They have a FULL range of colors, and lots of special deals with really great pricing. I can hardly wait for my first order to arrive!
